The Dallas Socials all started with a twitter account. While I was studying at SMU, I had the hardest time finding fun things to do in Dallas. We all know that Dallas has tons of events so I was baffled that I couldn’t find a source that could provide me with the info that I was looking for. My sister, who is also a blogger, introduced me to twitter in 2009. I had no idea what it was but figured I would give it a try. I would post often about all the fun things going on in Dallas from night life to charity events. It slowly became an obsession. Before I knew it, I had almost 1000 followers. (In 2009, that was a LOT of followers.)
My sister suggested that I start a blog. She set it up for me and taught me how to post. Before I knew it, my blog was generating passive income and I was being invited to cool events in Dallas and all over the country. My blog has grown substantially and my twitter following is now over 50,000!
Lip Gloss and High Heels has always been an idea in the back of my head, so in 2011 I thought, “why not?” I wanted to have an outlet that I could share whatever I wanted to on. I keep my content on The Dallas Socials very targeted to my audience so I couldn’t always share the awesome pair of high heels that I purchased or my new pair of jeans that I’ve been swooning over.
Not only did I want to share about products that I love, but I also wanted an outlet that I could share more about my personal life. On Lip Gloss and High Heels I have been able to share about my engagement, my courthouse wedding, and one day about my kids.
Blogging has brought me so many opportunities that I could ever imagine from attending the CMA awards to visiting the Ford Factory in Detroit to traveling the country! I’m forever grateful for all the fun times and the amazing amount of people that I have met on the way.
